A proven strategy to beat mindless overeating

Struggling with mindless overeating, especially during the commute and just after arriving home from work? Our latest blog post delves into proven tactics to combat this common issue. Discover practical strategies to stay mindful and in control, transforming your eating habits for the better.

One of my clients has been struggling with mindless overeating after arriving home from a long day at the office.

Here's what we've put into place:

  1. We're ensuring that she's not overly hungry by the time she gets home. She's following a regular pattern of eating throughout the day (3 satisfying balanced meals). She's also making time to enjoy a snack before driving home.

  2. On the drive home she's taking a "mindful moment" to check in with herself. By connecting to her senses she's able to "snap out" of being on autopilot mode & bring herself back to the present moment. Being present leads to conscious decision making instead of acting out of impulse.

  3. We've created a "pattern interrupt" to break her habit of heading straight to the kitchen when she arrives home. She's now getting into the habit of having a shower as soon as she gets home & before cooking the evening meal. She finds this very soothing & is a great way to reconnect to her body.

I understand how challenging it can be to overcome mindless overeating, especially during stressful times like the post-work routine. Remember, you're not alone in this journey.
